Pick N Pay And Unitrans Extend Their Solid Partnership For 10 Years

Unitrans Supply Chain Solutions has secured a 10 year contract extension from Pick n Pay to provide the transportation services at the retailer’s Longmeadow Distribution Centre in Gauteng.

Pick n Pay is one of South Africa’s leading grocery and general merchandise retailers. Through its subsidiaries and associates, they operate in the retail sector throughout the African continent. Pick n Pay needs no introduction as the quintessential family store focused on the customer since 1967.

Unitrans currently operates a fleet of 327 vehicles from Pick ‘n Pay’s flagship distribution centre at Longmeadow. The transportation network services 455 Pick n Pay stores in Gauteng and areas as far afield as Botswana, Namibia, Swaziland and Lesotho. The transportation operation employs 930 people who work in several areas of the supply chain, including outbound deliveries to stores, reverse logistics and inter DC trunking. The operation is further supported by the Unitrans Control Tower which provides an essential comprehensive 24/7/365 monitoring function.
