PiA Solar

Established in 2012, PiA Solar designs, manufactures and installs mounting systems for the solar photovoltaic industry, including the ContourR+ single-axis tracker and fixed tilt structures. The company also undertakes a full range of projects for the rooftop market.

To date, PiA has installed more than 500 000 foundations, close to 500 MW of mounting structures and more than one-million modules. The structures have been supplied not only in South Africa but also in other African countries, including Madagascar, Uganda and Zambia, to name a few. PiA Solar has supplied or installed ten tracker projects, of which 17.7 MW is currently being installed in Namibia. PiA Solar is exploring the global solar market.

PiA Solar’s ContourR+ single-axis tracker has been wind-tunnel-optimised by Germany’s IFI Institute of Technology and verified by TüV Rheinland. It also has a third-party due diligence report from ARUP. The company is ISO 9001:2008-certified and is currently busy with the implementation of the ISO 14001:2015 and OHSAS 18001:2007 safety standards.

PiA Solar, which has 53 permanent and 500 temporary employees, is a Level 1 black economic-empowerment company. PiA Solar attributes its global growth in the market to ‘People, Innovation and the Action’.

Apart from being awarded the contract for the installation in the Kruger National Park and Solar Future Robben Island, PiA takes pride in being entrusted with 30 rooftops, 5 carports, 15 fixed tilts and 10 ContouR+ trackers totalling almost 500 MW, all of which were completed on time.
