Patel appoints acting Competition Commission deputies

Two acting deputy commissioners for the Competition Commission have been appointed for a six-month term starting October 1, as a process for permanent appointments for these roles continued.

Economic Development Minister Ebrahim Patel reappointed Advocate Oliver Josie, who had been serving as acting deputy commissioner since 2013, and appointed Hardin Ratshisusu, who had been serving as divisional manager for mergers and acquisitions since March 2014.

The Minister said both Ratshisusu and Josie, joining in 2004 and 2011 respectively, were part of the executive management of the Competition Commission.

“I believe these appointments will go a long way in helping to build stability and strengthen the efficiency of the commission as it assists government to focus more on jobs, industrialisation, small business development and economic transformation, not as a by-product, but an explicit objective of competition policy,” Patel said in a statement.
