Project Description
The project includes the construction of a slow-emission, 350 MW combined-cycle natural gas-fired plant, with a ten-year power purchase agreement. A 170 000 m3 liquefied natural gas storage tank and regasification facility will also be built to supply gas to the plant and potentially serve growing demand for natural gas in Central America.

Value
The project is expected to cost between $800-million and $900-million, which will be financed through a combination of nonrecourse debt, equity from partners and AES equity of up to $210-million.

Duration
Construction of the project is expected to begin in early 2016, with commercial operations expected in 2018.

Latest Developments
The AES corporation, through its subsidiary Gas Natural Atlantico, has won a competitive bid process conducted by ETESA to supply 350 MW of new capacity.
