JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – JSE- and Aim-listed Pan African Resources has appointed former COO and joint interim CEO Ron Holding as CEO and director with immediate effect.

The company also announced that former FD and current Shanduka Resources MD Cobus Loots would resume his position from October 1, following the resignation of current FD Busi Sitole.

Holding occupied the role of COO before his appointment as joint CEO of the company in March, following the exit of former CEO Jan Nelson at the end of February.

He started his mining career in 1973 at former South African mining company Gencor and had since occupied several senior positions, boasting experience in various stages of developing and mining mineral deposits, including deep-level gold mining, as well as the mining of platinum, diamonds and copper.

Pan African chairperson Keith Spencer said in a statement that Holding’s knowledge of the company and its operations made him an ideal candidate for the position.

“His experience positions him to effectively further the company’s strategy of being a low cost, high margin, precious metals producer, particularly in light of our organic growth plans at the Evander and Barberton mines,” he commented.

Meanwhile, incoming FD Loots, a qualified chartered accountant, would vacate his position at Shanduka Resources to focus on his appointment at Pan African.
