Orchards Clinic officially opens its doors

Orchards Clinic, a new clinic on Louis Botha Avenue. A much stronger public presence through the architectural design and street frontage onto Louis Botha Avenue.

The vibrant, primary healthcare facility is now open. The Johannesburg Development Agency (JDA) was the implementing agent to deliver this state-of-the-art, primary healthcare facility to provide services in Norwood, Orchards, and surrounding areas. 

The clinic was opened on Monday, 05 September 2022, by the provincial health department. 

Orchards Clinic is part of the Joburg 2040 Growth and Development Strategy (GDS). The City of Johannesburg aims to provide primary healthcare facilities in identified areas and produce a high-quality health environment.

The clinic lies along the Louis Botha Corridor of Freedom. The City of Joburg is currently rolling out Rea Vaya BRT-related infrastructure connecting multiple nodes from the inner city to Orange Grove, Alex, and Sandton.

There are 20 consulting rooms, emergency rooms, antenatal, ARV and TB service facilities, a courtyard, office space and a parking area for staff and patients. 

The building also incorporates environmentally friendly features allowing for rainwater harvesting, solar heating, ventilation, and a vegetable garden.

Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Development Planning, Cllr Belinda Echeozonjoku, visited the facility when it opened its doors. “The clinic is officially open, and it is an amazing facility. I am certain our residents will be happy using the clinic. The clinic is conveniently situated along a road corridor and is within walking distance to many of the residents in area. This is in line with the City of Johannesburg’s Mayoral Priority of building an inclusive city” she said.
