Oil & Gas Africa Attracts International Visitors

1st July 2014

This week’s Oil & Gas Africa 2014 expo has attracted international interest, with visitors from 16 countries already registered to attend the three-day show. The highly anticipated Sub-Saharan oil, gas and petrochemical engineering supply chain trade exhibition is one of the three trade shows that make up the massive Cape Industries Showcase taking place from 2 to 4 July at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.

“This strong international showing confirms that Oil & Gas Africa is the ideal hub for key players in the African oil and gas community,” says show organiser John Thomson of Exhibition Management Services. “Cape Town is an ideal location for this show, which attracts many leading oil, gas and petroleum supplier companies from around the world as exhibitors. It also draws many high-calibre visitors from technology-rich countries such as Italy, Russia, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, the USA and many more.” Thomson says that due to Africa’s growing importance as a supplier of crude oil and gas, South Africa’s strategic location between east and west coast operations will help streamline logistics, with its ports as ideal supply and maintenance hubs. As a result, this year’s oil and gas expo is going to play an even greater role as a networking platform for suppliers and customers to establish efficient business links.

African Markets Dominate Visitor List
More than half of the pre-registered visitors are from Africa, hailing from Botswana, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Namibia, Nigeria, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. “As South Africa’s infrastructure and industrial capabilities have evolved and developed over the last 20 years, overseas companies have escalated their use of this country’s unique location as a springboard into the rest of Africa – the number and diversity of overseas countries taking part in Oil & Gas Africa 2014 confirms this,” adds Thomson. “At the same time, more African countries are looking at South Africa as the great attractor of overseas technology.”

Extensive Products and Equipment Displays
An extensive and in-depth array of equipment, products and services specifically targeting the burgeoning African oil and gas sector will be displayed by exhibitors. This includes gas and welding products, protective gear, pumps, valves, pipes and tubing, lifting equipment,  cables, automation and  robotic systems, electronic and electrical engineering systems and suppliers, integrated oil and gas well construction solutions, vessel control systems, hydraulic components and systems, general engineering supplies, and much more, A one-day conference focusing on opportunities in the Sub-Saharan African oil and gas industry will take place alongside the expo on 2 July 2014.
