New hybrid inverter range for SA

The S6 Advanced Power hybrid inverter range from Solis

A hybrid inverter was recently launched in South Africa by Ginlong (Solis) Technologies.

The S6 Advanced Power hybrid inverter features added generator connection and control functions, and is said to work as a fully independent power centre, designed to specifically meet the needs of the South African market for residential and commercial and industrial (C&I) projects.

Solis says its new inverter introduces significant performance improvements, such as enhanced connectivity and control capabilities that enable the incorporation of generators with multiple input methods and automatic on/off control.

The maximum charging and discharging current has been increased to 190 A, while automatic uninterruptible power supply (UPS) switching aims to equip homeowners with senseless switching, allowing users to eliminate power outages.

The inverter has a single and three-phase capability, accommodating up to 6 connections in parallel, with a maximum total load of 48 kW, protected by a 10-second, 200% surge overload capability. Its multiple battery protection features and customisable charge/discharge time settings are compatible with both lead-acid and lithium batteries. With independent generator interfaces and automatic UPS switching, the new range facilitates feeding excess power back to the grid and supports peak shaving control in both “self-use” and “generator” modes.

Solis country manager South Africa James Frank says: “This flexibility avoids over-specifying higher capacity inverters, photovoltaic arrays, generators and batteries than necessarily required, with considerable capital expenditure and operational expenditure savings…”
