New building player showcases modular building innovation

16th March 2018

Newly formed Cape Town-based company Innovative Modular Concepts (IMC) has unveiled a modular building innovation for residential and commercial buildings.

Leveraging a water-conserving and environment-friendly building process using repurposed material, IMC is constructing energy efficient, insulated and low-maintenance buildings within a few weeks.

IMC offers customised conversions of shipping containers and pod modular structures to exact specifications, including holiday homes, swimming pools, Airbnb and game lodge units, mobile clinics, schools, hospitals, restaurants, shops, construction offices and affordable, temporary or emergency housing.

“The container housing units are a new and innovative approach to housing. “They stress the importance of being efficient, durable and reliable, as well as being stylish and ecofriendly,” the company says.

The residential building scope ranges from affordable houses in the R200 000 price range, extending up to R5-million for upmarket homes, with delivery expected within two weeks for a single unit and up to 12 weeks for a R3-million home.

“Most of the building is done in the factory. Apart from far fewer disruptions to the client, this allows for higher in-house quality control,” the group comments.

The units are plug-and-play and immediately ready to be connected to municipal services on delivery.

IMC launched an IMC showhouse at the Firlands Equestrian Park, in Gordon’s Bay, this month.
