Forklift and lift truck distributor Goscor Lift Truck Company (GLTC) launched its new head office, in Chloorkop, in Johannesburg, earlier this month and highlighted its efforts to ensure the building’s energy and water efficiency.

The new building is housed on two plots, comprising 12 800 m2, of which 8 000 m2 is workshop space.

The building is equipped with solar panels, which supply 70% of its electricity, and also allows for a 30% saving on energy consumption.

Two on-site stormwater retention ponds supply water that is purified and used for irrigation and wash bays, significantly reducing GLTC’s water consumption.

The building has a new overhead crane to facilitate mast mounting, as well as an electronic load-testing area.

The new head office also houses a hydraulic hose room in which hydraulic hoses and kits will be manufactured.

GLTC has a two- to three-month stockholding of 13 m reach trucks, high-level order pickers and basic multidirectional side loaders. At any time, GLTC holds stock to the value of R80-million to R100-million.

GLTC MD Darryl Shafto highlighted that the company aimed to develop the best after-sales service.

“The challenge was to integrate our various divisions, but now that they have been successfully integrated, we can ensure that we deliver the best services,” he said.

Goscor Group CEO Neil Wilson said the company’s growth had been “fantastic” and added that, throughout this growth, customer service had been the major focus.

The challenge, he said, was to deal with the growth, while providing customers with the correct support and after-sales service.
