Engineering firm Murray & Roberts has renamed four of its operating platforms to more accurately describe the target market sectors in which the group operated, group CEO Henry Laas said in a statement on Friday.
The Murray & Roberts Construction Africa and Middle East platform has been renamed Infrastructure & Building, while the Engineering Africa platform has been renamed Energy & Industrial.
Further, the group’s Construction Global Underground Mining platform would now be called Underground Mining, while Construction Australasia Oil & Gas Minerals had been renamed Oil & Gas.
Laas noted that the various Murray & Roberts group companies’ classification within each platform remained the same, with the exception of Murray & Roberts Marine, which would now join the Oil & Gas platform along with Murray & Roberts subsidiary Clough.
He said the Clough minority acquisition in December 2013 had provided an opportunity for the group to streamline its marine services offering by combining Murray & Roberts Marine’s engineering capability with Clough’s construction capabilities.
Further, the group also announced name changes to some of the subsidiaries within the Energy & Industrial operating platform to better reflect the businesses’ capabilities to the market.
In future, Murray & Roberts Projects would be known as Murray & Roberts Power & Energy, Concor Engineering would become Murray & Roberts Resources & Industrial and Wade Walker would be known as Murray & Roberts Electrical & Control Systems.
Genrec Engineering and Murray & Roberts Water, which also formed a part of this platform, would remain unchanged.
The new platform and company names would be presented at the group’s full-year results presentation, Laas said.
