Name and Location
Morocco wind power projects.

Client
Enel Green Power (EGP), in consortium with Moroccan energy company Nareva Holding and German wind turbine manufacturer Siemens Wind Power, has been awarded preferred bidder status in the second phase of the wind integrated project tender held by Office National de l’Electricité et de l’Eau Potable (ONEE).

EGP and Nareva will establish and own five special purpose vehicles holding the projects. Siemens Wind Power will provide the wind turbines, with several components manufactured in Morocco.

Project Description
The project involves the development, design, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of five wind projects, with a combined capacity of 850 MW in Morocco.

The Midelt (150 MW), Tanger (100 MW) and Jbel Lahdid (200 MW) projects are located in the north, while the Tiskrad (300 MW) and Boujdour (100 MW) projects are located in the south.

In line with the tender rules, the energy generated by the wind farms will be sold to ONEE under 20-year power purchase agreements.

Value
The construction of the five plants will require an investment of about €1-billion, mostly funded through project finance facilities.

Duration
The wind farms are expected to be completed and enter operation between 2017 and 2020.
