Project Description
Moldelectrica proposes to upgrade the electricity grid in Moldova by developing a new high-voltage transmission line between Chişinău and Vulcanesţi and a new substation at each end of the line.

The project includes:
• a new ‘back to back’ substation within the existing 400 kV Vulcăneşti substation, and a short connection to the existing 400 kV Isaccea–Vulcăneşti transmission line to allow for the connection of the electricity systems of Romania and Moldova;
• the construction of a 158 km 400 kV transmission line between Vulcăneşti and Chişinău; and
• the adaptation of the existing 330/110/35 kV Chişinău substation by adding a new 400 kV substation and a new 400/330 kV autotransformer bay.
