Minto closure sinks Pembridge

London-listed Pembridge Resources has been formally placed into creditors’ voluntary liquidation and the company will apply to be delisted.

Shareholders resolved at a meeting on Monday to place the company, which has a strategic investment in the Minto copper and gold mine, into voluntary liquidation.

Creditors ratified the liquidation process at a subsequent meeting later in the day.

Copper miner Minto Metals ceased operations at its namesake mine in the Yukon last month, after failing to raise capital. This essentially sunk Pembridge.

Minto has handed over care and maintenance of the mine to the Yukon government, which has hired JDS Mining as contractor to ensure environmental protection is maintained at the site.
