A wholly owned Aliaxis subsidiary, Marley Pipe Systems primarily serves the plumbing and construction industries through the merchant trade, but has now expanded to include an infra- structure division, which directly supplies products used by the civil, mining, irrigation and industrial sectors.
The company also offers a range of backup services, including delivery, on-site support and technical assistance.
Marley Pipe Systems, which employs more than 600 people, boasts nine South African Bureau of Standards accreditations and also operates in accordance with the ISO 9001 quality management system.
Its factories in Nigel, in Gauteng, and Port Shepstone, in KwaZulu-Natal, have covered areas of 20 760 m2 and 4 290 m2 respectively. The main equipment in the factories includes polyvinyl chloride and polyethylene extruders and injection moulding machines.
The major orders Marley Pipe Systems was awarded in recent months include one for a 58 000 m HDPE liner pipe for a tailings dam. The project, the biggest of its kind undertaken in the South African mining industry, was implemented in conjunction with Mocke Construction. The client was mining company DRDGold.
