Outdoor power equipment supplier Briggs & Stratton reports that it has experienced healthy year-on-year turnover growth on product sales.

Briggs & Stratton Africa operations manager Andre Stols says the company will con- tinue to grow the business by providing the market with solutions and niche products.

“Our long-term goals are to further expand into other areas of Africa and to continue developing new products to fill gaps in the market,” he says.

Briggs & Stratton Corporation is celebrating 103 years of existence this year.

The company supplies a range of lawn and garden as well as industrial air-cooled engines for applications such as generators, water pumps, lawnmowers and pressure washers, which are used in semiprofessional as well as industrial applications globally.

Its petrol pressure washer range is suitable for outdoor cleaning and can be used for cars, decks, driveways, outdoor gear, bicycles, motorcycles and 4 × 4s, and is often used on construction sites where there is little or no access to electricity. The range offers adjustable or extended nozzles and hoses that range between 6 mm × 9.14 cm and 10 mm × 15.24 m.

A detergent injection, as well as a wheel and maintenance kit, is included with the pressure washer.

The pressure washer helps complete tasks in a fraction of the time it usually takes, and blasts away mould, dirt and grime. It ranges from the entry-level 2000 model to the heavy-duty 3200 model.

Further, Briggs & Stratton also added its brush-cutter range to the available products in South Africa in 2010. It is used to trim edges or clear dense grass and weed areas that are inaccessible by conventional lawnmowers.

The product offers accurate cutting speeds, a redesigned nylon cutter head, a strong engine with heavy-duty internal components and a safety guard.

“This product was developed as a semi-professional product for smallholdings but is predominantly used for industrial applications in South Africa,” says Stols.
