The project will connect to a 275 kV grid line managed by ElectraNet, running to the south of the project, and produce enough electricity to power about 155 000 homes.

Senvion has been issued a notice to proceed under a contract to install the first 35 turbines of the 59-turbine Lincoln Gap Wind Farm.

The first 35 turbines installed will deliver 126 MW of clean, renewable energy.

This stage of the project will be operational by the third quarter of 2018.

Meanwhile, work is well advanced on the early works for the remaining 24 turbines
