Company Announcement - Ranked as one of the world’s largest mining shows and southern Africa’s biggest trade exhibition, Electra Mining Africa took place at the Expo Centre, Nasrec in Johannesburg from 15-19 September together with co-located shows Elenex Africa and Transport Expo. 890 local and international exhibitors from the mining, industrial, electrical and machine tools industries showcased their latest innovations, products, services and technologies across 38 000 m2 of exhibition space.Over 35,000 visitors from South Africa, Africa and other parts of the world attended the show and had the opportunity to view the latest in energy saving technology, live demonstrations of the newest machinery and many newly-launched cutting-edge innovations. Millions of rands worth of equipment was on display by many leading-edge South African companies in the packed halls, marquees and outside precincts. High-profile international exhibitors from countries such as Australia, Chile, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Korea, Poland, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, the UK, France, China, Turkey and the US were also exhibiting. In addition, highly sought after conferences were running alongside Electra Mining Africa and provided industry leaders with a platform to discuss issues such as power generation, woman in mining and infrastructure challenges facing the South African economy.

“The support received from exhibitors and general business for the 2014 show has been outstanding,” comments Gary Corin, Managing Director of Specialised Exhibitions Montgomery, which organises the biennial show. “The visitor experience at Electra Mining Africa is like no other trade show on the continent,” says Corin. “Also, early feedback from exhibitors indicates that many of our visitors were influential decision-makers with many exhibitors reporting off-the-floor sales, sales leads and business connections.” Exhibitors did not hesitate to book for the next show and by the time Electra Mining Africa 2014 drew to a close nearly one third of exhibitors had already jumped to secure their spaces for Electra Mining Africa 2016.

“Many of our exhibitors took the opportunity to rebook their same stands for the next show in 2016, once again demonstrating the show’s success and status as a world-class event that draws high volumes of exhibitors and visitors,” Corin says. Electra Mining Africa is organised by Specialised Exhibitions Montgomery, a member of the prestigious Montgomery Group and a member of the Exhibition Association of Southern Africa.
