Komatsu and Pirtek announce further expansion of hose assembly supply agreement to cover mining equipment

16th April 2014

Komatsu Australia and Pirtek Fluid Systems have announced additional developments in their recently extended agreement for the supply of Komatsu genuine high-pressure hose assemblies to mining industry customers, with the agreement shortly to include Komatsu PC3000 and PC4000 mining excavators.

“We are now well advanced on having genuine high-pressure hydraulic hose assemblies for safety-critical applications available from Pirtek for Komatsu’s range of mining excavators and shovels,” said Stuart Moffitt, Komatsu Australia’s National OEM Product Manager. “In our mining excavators and shovels range, we will be able to offer genuine hose assemblies from Pirtek for our PC3000 and PC4000 machines from May, expanding coverage to our PC4000, PC5500 and PC8000 machines during the remainder of 2014.

“This will give our mining industry customers access to the higher levels of service and support, along with significantly shorter response times that we can offer through Pirtek’s 24/7 mobile service network – as well as access to more competitive pricing for genuine Komatsu hose assemblies,” said Moffitt.

“In addition, we will be expanding our genuine hose assembly capability with Pirtek into Komatsu’s dump truck range of machines, as well as into Pirtek New Zealand as part of our longer-term plans during 2014 and 2015. “As a result Komatsu’s New Zealand customers will shortly start seeing the benefits of this landmark partnership,” he said. The agreement signed in January covers 14 Pirtek service centres set up to manufacture genuine Komatsu high-pressure safety-critical hose assemblies to the Komatsu Engineering Standard for both new machine builds as well as aftermarket hose sales.

As the newly signed agreement is expanded, Komatsu’s mining and construction equipment customers across Australia and New Zealand will have access to a network of more than 100 Pirtek service centres and 320 mobile service units – in addition to Komatsu Australia’s own service and support network. According to Moffitt, the new agreement builds on the one signed between the two companies in May 2010, and strengthens the 10-year relationship established at the time.

“This landmark agreement between Komatsu and Pirtek has proved to be highly successful, giving our customers throughout Australia access to genuine Komatsu hose assemblies, manufactured locally through the Pirtek service network,” he said.
