Steel products manufacturer Scaw Metals has announced that its executive chairperson, Ufikile Khumalo, will become nonexecutive board chairperson, in light of his appointment as Foskor CEO from April 1.

The Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), which owns large interests in both Scaw and Foskor, made the appointment.

Foskor operates a phosphate mine in Phalaborwa and a fertiliser acid plant in Richards Bay.

Scaw said in a statement that Khumalo would continue to lead the company in “managing change, prioritising transformation and providing leadership through the board, that will enable the company to attract appropriate strategic equity partners for further market penetration and technology transfer while working closely with the IDC”.
