Near Eldoret, in the Rift Valley region of Kenya.

Project Owner/s
Alten Kenya Solarfarms, a subsidiary of the Alten Group.

Project Description
The project entails the construction of a 40 MW solar farm.

All the output from Kesses will be sold to State-owned power utility Kenya Power and Lighting Company on a 20-year take-or-pay power purchase agreement. 

Potential Job Creation
The project will create up to 400 construction jobs and 15 permanent jobs during operations.

Capital Expenditure
$87-million, including a loan from the  Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund for  $35-million over a 15-year term.

Planned Start/End Date
Construction of the plant has started and is expected to be completed later this year.
