PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Morocco's National Committee for Environmental Impact Studies has approved tin hopeful Kasbah Resources environmental- and social-impact assessment (ESIA) for its Achmmach tin project and granted it environmental approval.

“This approval clears the way to finalise its applications for water and land access for the project’s operational requirements and to obtain our mining concession,” said Kasbah CEO Mike Kitney.

He noted that the ESIA approval also satisfied a key investment criteria for the joint venture partners and investors in the Achmmach project.

Kasbah initially planned to develop an one-million-tonne-a-year underground mine, with first tin from Achmmach expected in 2015, but in September the miner reported that it was considering developing an openpit operation after drilling defined a shallow resource.
