Project Description
The Karot power project is located on the Jhelum river, upstream of the Karot bridge, in Punjab.

The project involves the construction, operation and maintenance of a 720 MW run-of-river hydropower plant under a build, own, operate and transfer scheme.

The project will include a 95.5-m-high dam and a 27-km-long reservoir, with a storage capacity of 164.5-million cubic metres, and is expected to generate an average of 3 436 GWh/y.

KPCL will sell all the electricity generated to the National Transmission and Despatch Company of Pakistan under a 30-year power purchase agreement.
