Project Description
The project entails the technology upgrade of the 560-MW Inga-Kolwezi transmission link and the refurbishment of stations that convert alternating and direct current. The refurbishment will ensure the efficiency and reliability of hydroelectricity transmission.

The system uses high-voltage dc technology and is 1 700 km long, making it one of the world's longest electricity transmission systems.

Power is transmitted from the Inga Falls hydropower station on the Congo river to the Katanga mining district.

The value has not been stated; however, the order to upgrade the link is valued at $107-million.

Duration
The project is scheduled for delivery in 2013.
