Johannesburg-based Pilot Crushtec, a supplier of mobile and semimobile crushing, screening and materials handling products for the mining and construction industries, is aiming to be the leading supplier of its three newly launched products within 18 months.
Earlier this month, the company launched the updated Rubble Master RM80 GO!, a compact recycling crusher; the Dust Fighter range, a suite of dust suppression equipment; and Tower Lights, a mobile, freestanding lighting tower.
“These products are aligned with Pilot Crushtec’s strategy of expanding our client offering, increasing our market penetration and responding to feedback from clientele,” explains Pilot Crushtec CEO Sandro Scherf.
The new Rubble Master RM80 GO! is an extensively updated edition of the popular RM80 compact recycling crusher, which has been available in the country for the past three years.
A pivotal feature of the new Rubble Master is that the manual controls have been replaced by a colour-coded push-button control system, which requires a single operator.
In addition, it is now supplied with a John Deere six-cylinder engine, delivering 168 kW at 1 800 rpm – an increase of 38%. Lower engine revolutions translate into lower fuel consumption and the crusher consumes 18 litres an hour while its maximum throughput has increased to 160 t an hour.
Pilot Crushtec business development director Frank Scherf says the Dust Fighter range will not only transform conditions on site but will also assist operators in conforming to impending legislation related to dust control.
“The Dust Fighter systems suppress airborne material by spraying a fine mist of water across an extensive area. Its effective range can be as great as 50 m and, as the unit is able to oscillate through a radius of 335º, it provides widespread coverage,” he says.
He adds that one of the major features of this system is that it achieves its objective without leaving behind a residue of puddles and slippery muddy surfaces.
Pilot Crushtec’s new Tower Light range was introduced in response to strong demand for production efficiency and the subsequent need for mining, construction and industrial activities to be undertaken at night.
Each tower is equipped with a set of four 1 000 W metal halide flood lights mounted on a telescopic mast that extends to a maximum height of 9 m on the smaller VT1A model and 8 m on the VT8 unit.
An important feature is that the telescopic design dictates the movement of the masts, which are restricted to moving up and down a vertical axis at 90º to ground level. This offers greater safety than lighting sets which have to be winched from a horizontal to an upright position.
