The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (Icasa) this week said information and communication technology (ICT) licensees had until September 8 to complete the 2014 International Telecommunications Union (ITU) ICT Indicators questionnaires.
Icasa was undertaking the questionnaire as part of South Africa’s obligation as a member State of the ITU to collate and submit information on the nation’s ICT sector.
“The information obtained will further enable the authority to gather and update ICT information to assist it in ensuring effective and evidence-based regulation; and establish the base for future analysis of the ICT sector,” the regulator said in a statement.
Icasa noted that the information gathered could also be used for medium- to long-term policymaking initiatives.
