Hall's Chemicals And Adhesives Build New Retail Space In Pietermaritzburg

2nd October 2017

The new Hall’s Retail space offers everything a DIY enthusiast to a contractor could need.

After months of anticipation, Hall’s Chemicals and Adhesives has reinvented itself with a fantastically renovated space at 176 Victoria Road in Pietermaritzburg. Built in 1957 and restored to its former glory in 2017, the new premises is more than just a retail store – it’s a one-of-a-kind, inspiring space for home owners and contractors alike to source decorative and industrial coatings, chemicals and adhesives.

With the Xtract coffee station and barista on hand, it’s the perfect place to sip on PMB’s best cappuccino and contemplate your next big build, renovation, DIY project or maybe just a feature wall?

With the opening of the new “Steampunk” premises, Hall’s Retail now also stocks an even wider range of fantastic brands over and above the already comprehensive product offering, including Belogtex carpets and vinyl flooring, 20 exclusive imported porcelain tiles, 16 locally manufactured polished concrete tiles and handmade terrazzo tiles, making it the place to visit for trending finishes.

“The store has been created to inspire the imagination when you’re building or renovating,” says trustee, Martin Hall. “Our approach is to provide rational information that our clients can use to make informed decisions when they are looking for products to suit their projects, problems or manufacturing processes in the three main sectors we trade in, namely, Paint, Adhesives and Cleaning for residential, commercial and Industrial applications.

The new store is a huge leap forward for this family-owned business, which has provided quality products as well as personalised and professional advice since 1989. (1) Hall’s Retail falls within the Hall’s Group of Brands, which includes three other sub-brands;  (2) Hall’s Manufacturing, who produce 587 innovative products, available for wholesale, (3) Hall’s Lights (Lights on Victoria) was acquired in 2010, and with a focus on international and local lighting trends, the company continues to supply quality fittings at affordable prices, (4) Hall’s Fine Foods manufactures and market premium handcrafted and small batch jams, relishes, marmalades and melba toast, the perfect accompaniment to sweet and savoury dishes, cheeseboards, picnics, buffets, dinner parties and more!

Andrew Hall commented “Even though this store may be intended to satisfy our walk-in trade and it aids in presenting our range in a more interactive way, it must be noted that we have made massive progress in growing our external sales team for technical, specialized and personal service of our B2B business just the way Barry taught us. We have continued to grow our epoxy flooring, bulk adhesive, and waterproofing sectors and we intend to capture even more of that market by continuing to provide quality products at the most reasonable prices.”

“The store is definitely the first of its kind, and I would be bold enough to say that there is no other company that specialises in the sales of product solutions to both the end user and companies alike,” says Martin. “Until now there has been nothing glamorous about paint, glue and chemicals – we intend to change that.”
