Dominion is proposing the construction of a 1600 MW natural gas-fired power station in Greensville County.

The power plant will be a combined-cycle facility comprising three gas-fired combustion turbines and a steam turbine designed to generate enough electricity for 400 000 typical homes at peak demand.

The project will cost more than $1-billion.

The power plant is expected to be operational in 2019.

Dominion plans to submit its application for a certificate of public convenience and necessity to the State Corporation Commission (SCC) in July.
