Grayston bridge collapse inquiry postponed

The second sitting of the inquiry into the Department of Labour’s Grayston Drive pedestrian and cyclist bridge collapse, which was due to be held next week, has been postponed.

“The postponement is owing to the fact that the expert reports had not been circulated to all affected parties timeously, resulting in inadequate time to peruse and prepare appropriately,” said the inquiry’s presiding inspector Lennie Samuel.

The next sitting of the inquiry was scheduled for May 4 to 6.

The Section 32 inquiry was aimed at determining the cause of the October 2015 collapse of the bridge on the M1 highway, which killed two people and injured 19.
