Graphic Engineering Solutions and Services Announces Availability of WayleaveCentral

13th December 2013

Today Graphic Engineering Solutions and Services, or GESS for short, announced immediate availability of version 3 of their product: WayleaveCentral, now enabling engineers and owners of service infrastructure to immediately apply for Wayleave approvals online.

“We evaluated typical problems experienced by the issuing authority as well as the engineers when applying for Wayleaves and created a centralised coordinated collaboration platform that enables the automation of applications to a large extent. This aims to address both communication of information between parties and faster turnaround times for approvals,” said Francois Grobler, Director of IT and Professional Services at Graphic Engineering Solutions and Services. “Just the better communication created alone will be a vast improvement on the Wayleave process, and the faster processing will save the industry and the tax payer thousands of Rands. We will continue to improve on the product using feedback from the industry, as we move forward.

This is an exciting time! The more companies buy into the platform the more creative time savings and optimisations can be offered! The aim is to sustainably save time and money to all parties involved.”

Positive Customer Impact
Customers have already benefited from deploying WayleaveCentral. City of Tshwane, a Metropolitan Municipality, recently committed to deploying WayleaveCentral to their infrastructure and to deploy the integrated handheld inspection solution to their road inspectors. WayleaveCentral will enable City of Tshwane to automate large portions of the approval workflow and to assist engineers with applications by providing better information about application requirements and collaboration between the parties involved. An official press release will be forthcoming from The City of Tshwane regarding the implementation of WayleaveCentral in their environment.

“The system is able to show the consultant what the status of the application is at all times and enables the engineer to follow up with the individual(s) that is delaying the evaluation of the application,” said Brett Forbes, Managing Director. “Applications follows the same process and the same priority is given to all applications! The engineering consultant is able to keep his client up to date. The system notifies consultants to hand in as-built drawings to enable completion certificates to be issued; this way the issuing authority’s information is kept up to date.

All completed applications is stored on the issuing authority’s chosen File Management system for easy retrieval in future when needed. Furthermore field inspectors is informed through the system when sites are ready for inspections and consultants are reminded to book inspections. The launch of this system is as a result of years of planning and the culmination of enormous effort and hard work by the various teams involved in the process from GESS and the client.” The system is designed for all infrastructure applications and their respective workflows and documentation requirements and not just for fibre as mentioned in the press recently. This includes bulk water, water, sewer, storm water, electrical, telecoms, gas, petrochemical, road access and road modification services.
