Garry Pita Acting Group Cfo, Anoj Singh Seconded To Eskom

16th July 2015

Company Announcement - We wish to advise that the Board of Directors has appointed Mr Garry Pita as acting Group Chief Financial Officer with effect from 01 August 2015. Mr Pita’s appointment follows a decision by the Boards of Directors at Transnet and Eskom to second Mr Anoj Singh to Eskom as CFO, as our sister company prioritises funding in addressing the challenges it faces. The Shareholder Minister, Ms Lynne Brown, concurred. Garry, a Chartered Accountant, has been with Transnet for the past 10 years. Previously, he held senior positions at auditing and advisory firm KPMG’s local and international operations.

At Transnet, he has led some of our biggest finance projects such as IFRS Conversion and was Head: Group Internal Control. Currently, he is Group Chief Supply Chain Officer, overseeing our capital and operational procurement activities. Garry has served on the group finance executive team chaired by the GCFO for the last seven years and the group capital investment committee for four years, providing him with the appropriate exposure to the most critical aspects of the company’s finance function. Garry will attend both the Executive Committee and Board meetings to ensure that he has a full view of all financial aspects of the company.

To ensure a smooth transition, Anoj is currently engaged in a handover process and will avail himself whenever Transnet requires him.
Anoj and Garry’s new assignments confirm the depth of talent at our disposal. This is the second executive to be called upon to serve at Eskom – earlier this year, our Group Chief Executive, Mr Brian Molefe, became acting Chief Executive. We are confident that Garry will excel in carrying the additional responsibilities that we have entrusted in him.

On behalf of all of us in the Board, the Group Executive Committee and the over 60 000 members of the Transnet family, we wish to thank Garry for accepting this task. He has our unwavering support. At the same time, we wish Anoj all the best at Eskom.
