JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Diamond miner De Beers has launched its Forevermark brand in Hungary, Thailand and South Korea, bringing its total number of outlets to 1 700 in 38 consumer markets.

Forevermark launched in Hungary with R-A Diamonds, a distributor and wholesaler for fine diamond jewellery and loose diamonds. R-A Diamonds selected an initial eight independent retailers to distribute these diamonds.

The company believed this would strengthen its position in Europe, where it was present in Turkey and the UK.

The brand’s launch in Thailand took place with the opening of an exhibition at Siam Paragon, one of the largest department stores in Bangkok, ahead of Valentine’s Day. Together with its new licensee partner, Jubilee – Thailand’s largest diamond retail chain – Forevermark would be available in stores across the country.

In South Korea, it launched with licensee partner, Golden Dew, which started selling the brand in 11 of its stores. Founded in 1989, Golden Dew was present in over 70 department stores across the country and synonymous with wedding jewellery.

“Forevermark has enjoyed remarkable growth since it was established eight years ago. [These new locations] are very promising markets with high growth potential. We are also thrilled to share Forevermark’s assurance of rarity, beauty and responsible sourcing with our new partners,” Forevermark CEO Stephen Lussier said.
