The US Consulate General Johannesburg is inviting young innovators, entrepreneurs and creative individuals to submit entries for the Rosa Parks Library & Innovation Studio Three-Dimensional (3D) Design Challenge.

The competition challenges entrants to design a household water-saving solution using 3D technology and then to use the 3D printers at the Soweto-based library’s Innovation Studio for the final submission.

While entrants do not have to be residents of Soweto or Gauteng, all contestants must be members of the Rosa Parks Library & Innovation Studio to be eligible.

Membership is free and applications must be submitted in person at the library.

Technology product distribution and training services company Solid Edge Technology, along with the US Consulate General, will judge entries after the competition closes on April 30, 2018.

Prizes include a MakerBot Replicator Mini Compact 3D printer, a Solid Edge Fundamentals Training Voucher Course and a 3Dconnexion Space Navigator 3D navigational device.
