Engen and Supersport United give back to grassroots football in Port Elizabeth

15th May 2017

Engen, South Africa’s leading petroleum brand*, and partners SuperSport United continue to give back to local communities.  On Tuesday, 16 May 2017 in conjunction with Engen Knockout Challenge Port Elizabeth host club Glenville Celtic, they will be hosting a coaching clinic for 60 children at the Saints Sports Complex in Gelvandale at 14h30.

At the clinic South African football legend and official SuperSport United football ambassador Jabu Mahlangu will address the participants drawn from local clubs in the area, encouraging them to pursue their dreams academically as well as on the sports field.

Joining Mahlangu at the coaching clinics are former Bafana internationals Thabo September and Ricardo Katza as well as the SuperSport United academy coach, Junior Bhengu.

Brad Bergh, Engen’s Group Sponsorship Manager, says the visit to the local community in Port Elizabeth underlines Engen’s commitment to providing a platform for these youngsters to improve on their present skill set in the sport.

“We believe that by providing skills development for the local community we will see it one-day produce players who participate in the prestigious Engen Knockout Challenge. As a company Engen is delighted to be a part of the development of football players at grassroots level.”

Adds Bergh: “Engen’s cares about the communities in which it operates and strongly believes in the power of football to uplift and inspire the youth of Port Elizabeth.”
