Energy Minister to open African Energy Indaba

Energy Minister Tina Joemat-Pettersson will open the seventh yearly Africa Energy Indaba at the Sandton Convention Centre on February 17.

The Minister would address global and African energy and business leaders.

Important issues facing the South African energy sector included load shedding and plans to help power utility Eskom overcome the challenges it was facing.

African Energy Ministers and more than 120 global and African energy experts would participate as speakers at this year’s Indaba. Lively debate would be created in the high-profile sessions and workshops.

Meanwhile, World Energy Council (WEC) secretary general Dr Christoph Frei would host a panel discussion on ‘The Vision ahead for Africa’s critical Energy Infrastructure’, discussing pertinent issues around this topic and what governments need to do to prioritise and facilitate private sector-driven projects.

The
Africa Energy Indaba was the regional Africa event of the WEC and was strategically partnered by the South African National Energy Association and the New Partnership for Africa's Development Planning and Coordinating Agency.
