In an attempt find lasting solutions to the challenges facing South Africa’s petroleum sector, Energy Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi held an informative introductory meeting with the South African Petroleum Industry Association’s (Sapia’s) board of governors on Thursday.
The meeting, aimed at strengthening and improving working relations between government and industry, dealt with key industry issues including economic transformation, cleaner fuels and climate change.
The ongoing need to align the Petroleum and Liquid Fuels Charter with the broad-based black economic empowerment codes of good practice, was also discussed.
“Transformation is not only an economic imperative, but it is also a social imperative for South Africa to have a sustainable future. Finalising this process timeously is a must, as transformation is non-negotiable,” Kubayi said.
