Emission free driving: BMW electric car to be showcased at SA’s first Schneider Electric Xperience Efficiency event

Schneider Electric, a global specialist in energy management, has announced that it will be showcasing the BMW i3, an electric vehicle by the German auto manufacturer, at its prestigious Xperience Efficiency event, taking place at the Birchwood Conference Centre from 26-27 August 2014. The BMW i3 is the world’s first premium car conceived from the ground up to deliver electric mobility and emission-free driving in urban areas. The BMW i3 features a passenger cell made from carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic and BMW eDrive technology that enables it to be driven on electric power alone with a range of 130 to 160 kilometres. Charging can be done at home or work with the BMW i Wallbox Pure, a specially developed home charging unit.

“Schneider Electric is very excited to showcase the BMW i3 and the BMW i Wallbox at its first Southern African Xperience Efficiency event. In addition, we look forward to using the eventas a platform to announce a major partnership between Schneider Electric and BMW i, which will have a significant impact for local electric vehicle customers,” says Eric Leger, country president for Southern Africa atSchneider Electric.

Xperience Efficiency is a free event that tackles the demand drivers that are forcing change: economic and government rebalancing, urbanisation, digitisation, and sustainable resources.  This August is the first time the event will be hosted in South Africa, and will be focused on showing energy solution to challenges experienced specifically in Southern Africa.

“By looking at the latest integrated energy trends and sustainability solutions that will transform how we all work, learn and play, Schneider Electric’s event creates the ideal platform to discuss and demonstrate efficient energy opportunities,” adds Leger.
