Critical communications multinational Motorola Solutions has released a new Wave 7000 for public safety agencies – a high-performance push-to-talk (PTT) platform that can be linked to private or public long-term evolution (LTE) networks and Land Mobile Radio (LMR) networks so that users can communicate across any network on any device.
The high-reliability interoperability communication solution is designed for large-scale deployment and also provides mapping, messaging and other broadband data functions, says Motorola Solutions systems and software enablement VP Jeff Spaeth.
“Many of our customers expect that their networks over the next 20 years will comprise a combination of LMR and LTE systems. The Wave 7000 provides a unified experience across LMR and LTE that will keep teams connected regardless of the network.”
The Wave 7000 interoperability system has network-level priority and pre-emption to ensure high-priority calls get through even when an LTE network becomes congested – critical for emergency and public safety services.
It also has emergency calling, ambient listening and hardware-based encryption as features designed to protect and empower public safety users.
As public safety agencies are increasingly reliant on smart devices and data, the system provides reliable, nationwide PTT networks to augment their communications, he explains.
According to the company, high-performance broadband PTT solutions can help agencies embark on a path to integrating LTE networks as part of their critical communications infrastructure.
Wave 7000 also provides options for local and geographic redundancy and, thereby, high availability.
The system is currently deployed for the UK emergency services network public safety communications system supporting more than 300 000 emergency and public safety users in 300 agencies.
The Wave Work Group solution provides users with a unified experience across radio, mobile and WiFi to keep teams connected regardless of the network.
The new-generation MotoTRBO digital radios use WiFi connectivity for software updates and include in-door tracking. The radios also support flexible PTT call types, including emergency, broadcast, group and private calls, says Motorola Solutions Africa sales channels director Laurent Tribout.
“The next-generation MotoRBO radio system also has a high-power SLR 8000 repeater that helps extend coverage for communication networks. “The repeater has flexible architecture that allows customers to configure it to meet their needs and can be set up for extreme reliability applications,” notes Motorola Solutions Africa senior regional sales manager Pieter Pienaar.
The MotoTRBO Capacity Max system improves security and reliability and is scalable from small, single-site systems to large, complex projects for voice and data-intensive deployments of up to 3000 users per site.
It also supports the European Telecommunications Standards Institute Digital Mobile Radio standard for multivendor interoperability, he adds.
