Project Description
The project involves the installation of power capacitor banks at two substations, in Abuja and the neighbouring Nasarawa state, to reduce the voltage drop in the power transmission system, decrease the transmission power loss in the region and improve the quality of power supply.

The project will stabilise the power supply in the regions served by these substations and supply power to about 7 000 households.

It will include two sets of high-voltage switchgears, protection and control panels, substation grounding equipment, low-voltage equipment and equipment foundations, as well as one set of underground power cables, direct current supply systems, spare parts and test equipment and maintenance tools.

Value
Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has signed an agreement with the Nigeria government to provide ¥1.32-billion for the project.
