Brazil-headquartered hermetic compressors and refrigeration solutions multinational Embraco will leverage its research and development (R&D) competitive advantage to gain market share in Africa, says Embraco business and marketing VP Marcio Schissatti.

It invests 3% to 4% of its net revenue into R&D to transform technology into innovation. Its focus is on energy management, refrigeration and food preservation, he says.

“The company’s hermetic compressors and cooling solutions for refrigeration were developed to address industry demands. There is growing demand for refrigeration systems with higher energy efficiency and lower noise, and that preserve food for longer.”

For example, the energy efficiency trends in the market are driving the use of variable-speed compressors. The Embraco Fullmotion variable-speed compressor consumes 40% less energy than conventional technologies, he says.

Further, the Embraco ‘plug ‘n cool’ system is a compact, sealed unit for commercial refrigeration and makes installation and maintenance easy for manufacturers and contractors. The technology allows for the use of R290 natural refrigerant, making it possible for customers to comply with worldwide efficiency and refrigerant gas standards.

Additionally, the company supplies its condensing units to the commercial and aftermarket segments, which helps to simplify production and replacement processes along the supply chain with a robust and durable solution, Schissatti adds.

“Innovation is part of our business strategy and, as a global company, we invest in technol- ogy and innovation to provide new solutions and services for our customers. The high-quality- solutions are designed to meet low energy consumption requirements and are the direct result of our innovation investments.”
