Electricity system constrained, but stable – Eskom

The national electricity system is expected to remain tight over the evening peak demand periods for the rest of the week, as Eskom continues with its planned maintenance schedule to prepare for winter while also managing unplanned outages that add more pressure to an already tight system.

The power utility said in its biweekly system status bulletin on Monday that
the system remained tight and balancing demand and supply was “a daily challenge”.

“We request customers to keep their electricity use as low as possible to ensure that the demand for supply is met,” Eskom stated.

Peak demand for the rest of this week was forecast at 32 480 MW on Tuesday, 32 510 MW on Wednesday, 32 808 MW on Thursday, 30 924 MW on Friday, 29 130 MW on Saturday and 28 442 MW on Sunday.
