Electrical product supplier launches range of switches and sockets

VERSATILE PRODUCT The modular design allows for any configuration to be adapted to suit present and future need

Electrical product supplier Legrand South Africa (SA) – a subsidiary of multinational industrial product supplier Legrand – launched the Ysalis switches and sockets range in South Africa earlier this month.

This forms part of the company’s strategy to introduce chic wiring devices to local commercial and residential market segments, meeting demand for sophisticated, yet affordable fittings.

“The range incorporates the latest technology for energy saving, safety and reliability,” says Legrand SA GM Johan Bosch.

He notes that the Ysalis range complies with the South African National Standards and has been approved and certified by the South African Bureau of Standards and the National Regulator of Compulsory Specifications.  These switches and sockets are also fully compatible with Legrand trunking systems.

The universal dimmers are designed for new and existing installations, and are able to handle universal loads for leading and trailing edge dimming requirements. For easy installation, the data sockets are fitted with tool-less connectors, eliminating the need for punch-down tools.
Further, as the new Ysalis products are designed and manufactured for the South African market, installation will not require special alterations to industrial and residential voltage norms.

“It’s also impressive that the modular design allows for any configuration to be adapted to suit present and future needs. With this system, it’s not necessary to damage the wall to increase, remove or change the number of lighting points or connections – the same box and support frames are used to accommodate all modifications,” says Bosch.

The compact design of these mechanisms allows for more space in the box for easy wiring and enhanced safety, with a spacer separating high and low currents.

Various modules – from one to six – are available, each with double or triple pole switches.

Legrand’s commitment to its local customer base encompasses the ongoing launch of products to meet exact market requirements. Energy efficiency, enhanced aesthetics, flexibility, reliability and safety are critical in the development of all Legrand systems, says Bosch.
