ELB to provide life extension services to the Portal Reclaimer Scraper at Petra Diamonds Cullinan Mine

ELB Engineering Services (ELB) is pleased to announce that a contract has been entered into between Petra Diamonds Premier Mine and ELB Engineering Services for the life extension of the Cullinan Portal Reclaimer Scraper at the Petra Diamond’s Cullinan Diamond Mine, close to Pretoria.

The focus of the life extension improvements will be on safety and production and would allow the machine to operate at a higher availability and capability level.

ELB’s scope of supply for this project includes a combination of repair work and replacement of equipment which will include the design and engineering services for the supply of all mechanical, structural, electrical, instrumentation and control equipment/materials as well as the delivery to site and installation related to the scope of supply.

The Cullinan Diamond Mine is an underground diamond mine owned by Petra Diamonds. It is situated in the town of Cullinan, 40 kilometres east of Pretoria, Gauteng Province. The mine rose to prominence in 1905 when the Cullinan Diamond, the largest rough diamond of gem quality ever found was discovered there. The mine has produced over 750 stones that are greater than 100 carats and more than a quarter of all the world’s diamonds that are greater than 400 carats. It is also the only significant source of blue diamonds in the world.
