ECSA appoints new CEO

The Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) on Wednesday announced the appointment of engineering firm Emzansi Engineers chairperson Sipho Madonsela as CEO of the council with immediate effect.

Madonsela would take over from acting CEO Edgar Sabela who had been appointed in July last year following the resignation of then CEO Dr Oswald Franks to take up a senior academic position.

“As a past president of ECSA, Madonsela brings solid management and industry credentials to ECSA as the new CEO.

“He has served on ECSA’s council in the past and shares a vision for the continued growth of the profession that has positioned him as ideal to take over from his predecessor,” ECSA president Cyril Gamede commented.

“As an engineer registered with ECSA since 1996, Madonsela has contributed greatly towards shaping the strategic plan of the council and, as we welcome him into this full-time role, we will give him all our support in steering the profession to new heights,” Sabela added.
