Ebrahim Rasool appointed DBSA chair

Former Western Cape Premier Ebrahim Rasool has been appointed the new chairperson of the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA).

His appointment was announced during a post-Cabinet briefing held by Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni on Monday.

Rasool, who also served as South Africa’s ambassador to the US from 2010 to 2015, succeeds Professor Mark Swilling, whose termed ended in September.

On September 27, Cabinet confirmed the appointments of the following nonexecutive directors to the DBSA board: Bongani Nqwabana (reappointment), Petrus Matji (reappointment), Pinkie Nqeto (reappointment), Jonathan Muthige, Chantal Naidoo, Disebo Moephuli, Barry Hore, Joel NetshitenzheEdgar Pieterse and Zodwa Mbele

Kenneth Brown, Martie Janse Van Rensburg and Dinao Lerutla also serve on the current board, together with CEO Boitumelo Mosako.

Rasool has been an independent nonexecutive director at the development finance institution since November 30, 2022.
