Dube TradePort Corporation has appointed Hamish Erskine as CEO.

He has been leading the organisation in an acting capacity since February 2015.

Former CEO Saxen van Coller was dismissed in June 2015 for failing to disclose previous criminal offences.

Chairperson Dr Zanele Gasa says the company received 143 applications for the position as head of the business entity of the KwaZulu-Natal provincial government, charged with the responsibility of developing the province’s biggest infrastructure projects.

Gasa adds that, under Erskine’s leadership, the organisation has “excelled over the last 19 months” and continues to deliver on its mandate, achieving a clean audit for the fourth consecutive year.

The Dube TradePort, which promotes foreign and local investment through warehousing‚ manufacturing‚ assembling and air-related cargo distribution, also achieved 84% of the organisations’ targets in its yearly performance plan for the 2015/16 year.

Meanwhile, the company has also secured three new international airlines, including Turkish Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines and Qatar Airways, noticing a 46% growth in international air passengers between July last year and this year.
