The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has invited companies to participate in a trade and investment mission to Ghana and Nigeria from August 8 to 12.

Companies in the agriculture and agroprocessing sectors, built environment professionals, automotive and automotive components, energy, electrotechnical, infrastructure, as well as mining and capital equipment sectors were encouraged to apply to the DTI before June 8.

Bilateral trade between South Africa and Ghana experienced an upward trend between 2011 and 2015, growing from R3.1-billion to R4.6-billion, while bilateral trade between South Africa and Nigeria experienced steady growth with trade increasing from R28.4-billion in 2011 to R46.1-billion in 2015.

“The visit to both countries provides a platform for South African companies who would like to export value-added products and services and for companies who are looking for investment opportunities in the West Africa region,” Deputy Trade and Industry Minister Mzwandile Masina said on Friday.

Participating companies would be assisted through the DTI’s export marketing and investment assistance scheme.
