Project Description
The project entails the construction of a water intake on the Kagera river, a drinking water treatment plant with a capacity of 30 000 m3/d and a booster station, as well as the laying of 62 km of pipes.

The project is expected to guarantee access to drinking water for nearly 200 000 people.

Potential Job Creation
About 200 people will be recruited locally and will be trained in the context of the works.

Capital Expenditure
€73-million, financed by the French Development Agency.

Planned Start/End Date
Construction is expected to last 22 months.
