PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Gold miner Dragon Mining has been cleared to start operations at its third gold mine in Finland, following the receipt of permission to process ore from the new Kaapelinkulma mine at the Vammala plant.

The Kaapelinkulma mine is some 65 km east of the Vammala plant, and the project is estimated to host a reserve of some 9 600 oz and a resource of 18 600 oz.

Reverse circulation drilling is planned at Kaapelinkulma to conduct grade control drilling, with mining slated to start in 2017.

The environmental permit to undertake mining at Kaapelinkulma was previously obtained, along with a mining concession encompassing the known deposits.

The new mine is expected to complement production from Dragon’s existing Orivesi and Jokisiu gold mines.
