Downer wins mining contract extension at Commodore

PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Contractor Downer EDI has been awarded a five-year mining contract extension at the Commodore opencut coal mine, in Queensland, worth A$286-million.

The contract will see Downer continue operations at Commodore until the end of August 2024.

Downer has been providing a total mining service at the mine since 2001, to deliver coal to the Millmerran power station.

The scope of the work includes operating and managing the mine and associated activities, including mine planning and design, drill and blast, overburden removal, coal mining and rehabilitation, with Downer also holding statutory responsibility over the mine site.
